How to Review and Refine Your Core Code Narratives
After completing your Brand Interview, the DNA Studio will be populated with the first and most important set of narratives: your Core Code. This consists of your AI-generated Vision Statement, 'Why' Statement, and Mission Statement.
These three narratives are the strategic bedrock upon which your entire brand will be built. Every future stage, from your marketing messages to your logo, will be aligned with the Core Code you finalize here. Therefore, taking the time to carefully review and refine these statements is a critical step.
This guide will provide you with a framework for evaluating each narrative and show you how to use the "Edit" and "Regenerate" tools to perfect them with the help of your AI Brand Assistant.
A Framework for Review: Asking the Right Questions
Before you start editing, it's important to evaluate each statement based on its specific strategic purpose. Read the generated text and ask yourself the following questions. Your AI Brand Assistant may also provide contextual tips or suggestions to help guide your review process.
Evaluating Your Vision Statement
The Vision Statement should be your ambitious, inspiring "north star." It describes the future you want to create.
- Is it ambitious? Does it feel big, bold, and maybe even a little bit scary? A good vision should stretch beyond what feels possible today.
- Is it inspiring? Does reading it make you feel excited and motivated? Would it inspire a potential employee to join your cause?
- Is it future-focused? Does it describe a future state of the world, your industry, or your customer's life, rather than what your company does today?
Evaluating Your 'Why' Statement
The 'Why' Statement is the emotional soul of your brand. It should explain your fundamental cause or belief.
- Is it emotional? Does it feel like it comes from the heart? It should be about a passion or a core belief, not a business objective.
- Is it about the "why," not the "what"? It should be free of product descriptions or features. It's the reason behind the product.
- Is it relatable? Would it help an ideal customer connect with your motivation on a human level?
Evaluating Your Mission Statement
The Mission Statement is your practical, action-oriented plan. It explains what your company does every day.
- Is it clear and concise? Can a new customer read it and immediately understand what your business does?
- Is it action-oriented? Does it use strong verbs that describe your daily activities (e.g., "we build," "we provide," "we empower")?
- Is it grounded? While your Vision is aspirational, your Mission should be grounded in the reality of your current business operations.
The Refinement Process: Polishing Your Foundation
Once you have reviewed the narratives against the framework above, you can begin the refinement process. Your goal is to ensure each statement is not only strategically sound but also feels completely authentic to you and your voice. The platform considers your narratives "complete" once you have interacted with them and moved on, so take the time you need to get them right.
Step 1: Start with "Regenerate" for Major Changes
If you read a generated statement and it feels completely off the mark or you're simply curious about other possible directions, use the Regenerate button first.
- Example: The AI generates a very corporate-sounding Mission Statement, but you want something more community-focused. Click "Regenerate" to see if it can produce a new version that better captures the community angle from your interview answers.
It's often helpful to regenerate two or three times to see a range of options. You might find that a line from one version and a concept from another can be combined into the perfect statement.
Step 2: Use "Edit" for Final Polishing
Once you have a generated version that feels 85-90% correct, it's time to use the Edit button to provide the final, human touch. This is where you infuse the narrative with your unique voice.
- Example: The AI generates a 'Why' Statement: "To help people feel more confident." This is good, but you can make it more powerful. You click "Edit" and change it to: "Our purpose is to arm every creator with the confidence to share their unique voice with the world." The edited version is more specific, more active, and has more personality.
This editing process is where the true partnership between you and the AI happens. The AI provides the strategically sound structure, and you provide the final layer of authenticity and voice.
Step 3: Proceed with Confidence
There is no "Approve" button to click. The system is designed to be fluid. Once you have edited a narrative and are satisfied with it, it is automatically saved as the current, official version. The AI Brand Assistant will use this latest version of your Core Code as the foundational truth when helping you generate narratives in the later stages. This ensures your brand identity always remains perfectly aligned.
With your Core Code reviewed and refined, you have successfully laid the cornerstone of your brand. You are now ready to let the AI Brand Assistant guide you to the next stage: The Expression Sequence.
